A plant can be stressed when it desires nutrients but can not get any. With hydroponic techniques, plants are never stressed. This is because of the technical system of hydroponic gardens. In soil gardens the nutrients in fertilizers are not all absorbed by the plants, because the soil acts like a buffer.
