Water is always surrounding the plant roots in a hydroponic setup. Because water and nutrients are always present, it allows plants to grow faster and stronger. Plants can be harvested early which can result in more plants being planted per season. Another advantage of having water always present is that it minimizes the space needed to garden. Plant roots no longer have to spread out to search for nutrients as it always in reach. Since the roots do not have to stretch outwards, the nutrients which should be allocated to that task can be used in growing.
